Quick Stops
Quick Stops highlights small doses of nature that are easily accessible from public transportation. Is the green space less than a two-minute relatively safe walk from the nearest bus stop? That’s a Quick Stop.

Beyond Hartford, Beyond Cars
I had long known about Ned Coll’s mission to broaden public access to Connecticut’s shorelines, but felt that it was time to expand on his campaign.
As someone who lives in a neighborhood with lower than average car dependency, I wanted to flip this idea around: what can someone who is car-free and living in Connecticut’s capital city access via public transportation? What can someone with a few hours on one day do with themselves without spending a lot of money or having to study a dozen transit timetables?
Each year, I will attempt to visit a few different cities/towns and write about that experience.
Here is what the series does not aim to do:
- cover an entire city/town in a single post, or potentially ever
- because public transportation rarely allows this possibility
- because nobody is paying me for my time to do this, so I get to pick and choose
- focus on what might interest those with children. This is not a mommy/daddy blog.
- make everybody happy
- provide a forum for people to complain
