As fun as it is to play “I wish this were,” this is not that.
The In Your Neighborhood series shows Hartford as it is, not as we might desire it to look.
This week, we walked through the West End, a neighborhood that some mistakenly believe to be in West Hartford.
This is the West End — graffiti and apartment buildings and all.
You will hear people refer to Elizabeth Park as having a Hartford side and a West Hartford side, something that makes no sense when you look more closely. The funding? City of Hartford. The trash collection? City of Hartford.
On this day, there were no cars parked on-street on the block of Prospect Avenue between Fern and Asylum. Quiet.
The traffic was to be found along South Whitney, West Boulevard, Sisson, Evergreen, and Farmington.
In Your Neighborhood showcases a different neighborhood in Hartford each weekend.

I, for one, am very glad it *is* in Hartford and has apartment buildings, otherwise I wouldn’t have just moved there;-)

i love this series. i also honestly had no idea that elizabeth park was “taken care of” by the city of hartford. it is always mentioned as being in west hartford and associated with west hartford. thanks for educating me!
