More than a dozen new trees were added to the Frog Hollow roundabout in the last week or so.
If anyone is looking for a new holiday tradition, here’s an idea: anyone who takes a cut tree and brings it indoors for a few weeks to display could offset their practice by planting two new trees at the same time each year.

Out on a walk this morning, yeah I can finally go further than the up the road without too much worry, I noticed all the work around route 2 in my area. In two places the construction removed ramps and now there are groves of pine trees and small juniper bushes. The crews also planted more trees where ramps were improved.
Hopefully there will be enough rain to set these trees before the ground freezes. An improvement for our landscape and for the earth, but still car after car goes by, car after car with one person to a car.
I love the new holiday tradition that you mention. Furbirdsqueerly wrote about the X-mass tree folly in a piece published on December 15, 2019 in a work titled Oh Pine Tree, Oh Fur Tree How much we love thee.
