Is it the guard shack down under the highway in The Hartford’s parking lot. I can’t remember the street names maybe Myrtle or Spruce in that area but its a bit north/west of the train station.
Is it in the lot off of Capital Ave. I believe it is a state lot or was. Park Place Towers is to the southwest. I might be the one I was thinking of moving into when I was going to run away from home. At one time we all went dancing in that area at the old Warehouse. Best Gay bar around, Hartford’s answer to studio 54 without the BS of the cool wealthy
Good to hear about the reclaiming of nature in that area. I always wanted to get some folks together and have a guerrilla art show under the bridge during open studio. I really had to rack my brain but once Josh mentioned Laurel St. I remembered the area. (Proves the old idea of one idea pushes another) I use to wait for the bus at the stop right after the highway bridge and cut through the lot when it was raining going under the bridge to keep dry. I really like that area when I lived there. Remembering the flap over the toilet, the corridor of hope, the removal of our home-made bridge and the foolishness of art sanctioned by the man no matter who he/she was. When we were much younger and living in the Goodwin Building downtown, we use to walk the tracks till Laurel and then walk over to the Warehouse and go dancing. We always relied on the goodness of a quick trick to get back home in the wee hours of the morning.
I looked it up and the lot is actually owned by Aetna, but most lots along 84 viaduct are either owned by Aetna or State of Connecticut.
Still nobody has replaced that little bridge in the Stretch of Sketch! Though last summer when we were in a drought, it was almost entirely dry for the first time in my memory of it.

Something about this says dump (transfer station, recycling center, that sort of thing) to me.
Kerri Ana Provost
No, but it totally has that vibe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there happened to be a bit of illegal dumping back there.

Keney Park?

Not Keney Park

It’s not in that area, but you have the right idea of what it is

The parking lot on Hawthorn and Laurel?
Kerri Ana Provost
It’s not there, though your guess is so far the closest geographically.
The giveaway is how fully nature is working on reclaimiing this majestic security tower (or urban deer blind, you choose the story)

YES!
And I am so glad you got this because I was going to give you shit if you didn’t!!!
That guard hut and the parking lot appear to be getting reclaimed by nature and I’m not even a little sad about it.
