This month’s mystery place defies the rules of the game in that it is indoors and not exactly a public space, but it is one that a fair number of residents and visitors could potentially have seen, so I’m going with it.
So, where do you think this is?

The arch?

It’s not there, but when I saw it that was exactly what I was reminded of

And I should add that if it looks like the arch, there’s a reason for that. Hint Hint 🙂
Jennifer S
Bushnell Park Pump house?
Kerri Ana Provost
It is not in Bushnell Park
Linda Pagani
Asylum Avenue Baptist Church?
Kerri Ana Provost
Not there, but that’s also a good guess
Richard
Center Church basement. Wherever it is it looks a bit spooky to me. Al least it has electricity.
Kerri Ana Provost
It does look spooky!
It’s not Center Church. It’s not in downtown. It’s not the sort of place most people would attend regularly.
Richard
Maybe it’s the basement of the Deborah Chapel in Zion Hill Cemetary. I know you sometimes prowl there.
Kerri Ana Provost
No, but you’re getting warmer — geographically and type of building.
I’ve never actually been inside the Deborah Chapel and in its current state of neglect by landlord, would not dare explore it.

Visitor center at Elizabeth Park?
Kerri Ana Provost
No, that’s always closed so I can’t get in with my camera 😉
So far, the Arch and the Asylum Avenue Baptist Church were the closest guesses. What do these two have in common, and go from there.
Jennifer S.
Ok, so designed by George Keller. Charter Oak Cultural Center?
Kerri Ana Provost
You figured out the clue, but it’s not the COCC. . . though now I want to go inside and see if the basement bathroom windows have the same design. I think they’re pretty similar to these. And yes, this photo was taken from inside a bathroom.
Craig
How about the Northam Memorial Chapel at Cedar Hill Cemetery?
Kerri Ana Provost
You got it!
The chapel is open during some events at the cemetery, and when you first enter the space feels modernized, but the exposed stone and brick in the bathroom is very noticeable and memorable!
Congrats!

My final guess is the train station. I didn’t guess this earlier because I consider it to be a public place, but the bathroom isn’t entirely public.
Kerri Ana Provost
Depends on which stall you use 😉
It’s not the train station. Craig got it — the chapel in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Richard
No wonder I didn’t get it. I prefer answering the call of nature out in nature and try not to frequent restrooms unless it is to answer the call of the do do. I like to water the bushes and try always to do my do do at home.

When you’re on a tree tour with like 70 other people, there is not enough privacy for that, especially when one’s anatomy requires much more exposure to the elements and peeping eyes!
