Here is your curated Hartford event calendar for May 2022.
What makes this list? Events that I would either attend or recommend to a good friend. Check with each venue for information about Covid protection procedures and to verify that an event is still happening. If I think a venue’s Covid policies are especially sketchy, I am noting that at least until we see positivity rates stabilize a bit lower than what they are right now.

Thanks for posting the Ancient Burying Ground Assoc’s lecture on gravestones! We will be following the Hartford Public Library’s covid guidelines since it’s an in-person lecture.

Oh, the comment was on the venue’s Covid policy, which seems to not be posted in an obvious place anymore, and from recent visits to that library, it seems that patrons are no longer being asked to wear masks.

“Let me be Frank- sounds like a great evening. One of my favorite books on my shelf is Uppity Women of Medieval Times written by Vicki Leon. In it she explores many women who did not accept the under my thumb of men’s rule. Of course, in our Transgender stories and all within our LGBTQ+ stories many women both butch lesbian, transgender or cross dressers, dressed like men. One of the most interesting lectures I ever heard was about the queer suffragettes a little too butch for the upper- and middle-class leaders, a little to “you might scare the horses”. These are fascinating stories of all types of women. I love the idea of hidden no more from hiss-tory but taking one’s rightful place among the mobsters, tyrants, oppressors, and others, to shine and burn a hole in what we have been taught. I hope Chion tapes this talk for those of us who are not around to listen in the evening.
