We need a weekend after the weekend. Such a blur of events, but the one that too many people missed and should have prioritized was the “End Environmental Racism” town hall in Bushnell Park.
What is environmental racism?
Think about who is most impacted by pollution. It takes little more than figuring out where polluting factories, incinerators, and so forth are sited.
Think about who is most negatively impacted by climate change…not 50 years from now, but right now.
Speakers at this event talked about the need to desegregate housing in Connecticut, improve science education, and act responsibly.
Speakers and performers at the event (many pictured) included Mixashawn, Nekita Waller, Alexis Garcia-Romero, Leticia Colón de Mejias, Sharon Lewis, Alycia Jenkins, Sara Bronin, Rhonda Wishart, Alex Rodriguez, Angel Serrano, and Deacon Art Miller.
If you missed this, mark your calendar for October 30, 2021. There will be an End Environmental Racism rally in Bushnell Park beginning at 2 PM.
Besides calling for human habitat preservation, people were just out and about, enjoying the parks, and showing up in numbers for the Hartbeat Music Festival at the Riverfront.
