What heat?
Muralists were still at work this week, out in the sun.
West End resident Deka Henry has been painting the side of this building at Farmington and Whitney.
Down the hill, Hartford resident Tao LaBossiere has been painting “Bee the Change” on the front of The 224 EcoSpace.
A grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving makes possible the 224 Farmington Avenue facelift, while the other building mural is funded by the City of Hartford’s Love Your Block program and a Patronicity fundraiser, with matching donation from Sustainable CT.

I saw Deka Henry’s work-in-progress the other day. I really love it. I worry about these artists working in such extreme heat, though. It’s really dangerous for their health.

Them, roofers, HVAC technicians, construction workers. . . I always hope that the business owner has the courtesy to check on them, bring these workers water, and sit them down inside an air conditioned building for awhile.

100% agree. It’s inhumane. I can’t understand why extreme heat is not treated as a dangerous threat for outdoor workers the same way extreme cold is.
