Cold and windy January, and yet people are still able to be spotted outside without me exerting any effort to find them.
As you may notice, it’s just as easy to find places to spend money in Hartford — another thing some folks think impossible.
Something I suppose that needs saying is that I am not posting photos of every single person I encounter. I do not have that kind of time and it would get obnoxious.
I also do not publish every photo that I take.
I am trying to show the range of people I see out and about. You will see lots of carts and carriages because not everybody drives or has access to a car, and contrary to popular belief, there are places to buy groceries here…so they need to schlep all that home somehow.
Unless there is a windchill advisory, it’s likely you will find people hanging around outside of stores. Yes, even in the coldest months of the year.
Another thing I should mention is that I am intentionally not taking better photos (RE: ones in which people can be easily identified). While it is completely legal to photograph people appearing in public, and I could go ahead and get close-ups if I wanted to, I think people deserve some privacy.
To better ensure that, I typically wait a few days from when I take a photo to when I post it — unless we are talking about something like a parade or protest, which is very different from someone going to the laundromat.
When I’ve been going out, it’s just places I would be going anyway. I do plan to mix it up when I have the time and reason to venture into other neighborhoods…but it really needs to be repeated that I do not have to go out of my way to find people in Hartford.
