When a major construction project in your neighborhood completely disrupts your commute, how are you expected to not try to get a closer look on the weekend when all the machines are parked?
I’ve been honestly afraid to look at the most recent plans for this because I know something about it is likely to be infuriating. My intuition is based at how the Park Terrace lane left open during construction was allowed to be overly wide, making it so traffic whizzes by workers not any slower than it would’ve gone normally; yet, the sidewalk running adjacent to that lane has been “closed” to pedestrians, pushing those of us who wish to be law abiding over to either Laurel Street or Putnam Street. To what extent this roundabout will serve pedestrians and cyclists, I guess we will see in about a year’s time. Hopefully, when it is done, we will see infrastructure more suitable to a residential neighborhood, as this is next to an elementary school and between several segments of Pope Park.
