Love it.

When I lived at Park Place Towers I love the wildness of Bankside Grove even though I hate the name. A piece of the untamed right in the city where the wild flowers, herbs and just plain old weeds were allowed to grow and grow freely. I can’t read the sign and wonder what does it say? Lots of fond memories of watching the seasons from the Trout Lilies of the spring, to the red clover, yarrow of summer to the Golden Rod and Asters of the fall, to the many pods, sticks, berries and dried flowers of winter for an indoor arrangement. I am sure I am not the only one who enjoyed the wildness, as a little birdie told me that she and her friends, the skunk, the possum, field mice, and all sorts of other creatures love a spot where humans let things just grow with out their clean up, golf park mentality. At one time in my 15 yrs. living in the area I had charted all of the wild herbs and healing plants that grew there. I will have to look through my files sometime and see if I can find it. YES! Let Wildness Rule!

The English part of the sign says: “Why is the grass taller here?
This area has been designated as a low mow zone.
Tall grasses and plants:
-Provide habitat for birds and other wildlife
-Save energy and help make our air cleaner by not using mowers and equipment
-Keep our rivers clean by reducing runoff pollution
