Trinity Street in Bushnell Park has been opened for people-centered use, at least through August 2020. This has meant the addition of two rows of giant flower pots, serving as protection against wayward vehicles, and a colorful Black Lives Matter street mural.
The mural was officially unveiled Sunday afternoon.
Sixteen artists created one letter apiece and received a stipend from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving; the City of Hartford donated painting supplies.

So very well done – love the color and diversity of the art in each of the letters. And a pedestrianized street! Very fitting for this one that cuts through the park. I hope this ushers in more people-focused streets in the city.

So glad to see BLM street art in Hartford, and I’m always impressed at how many people all over the city support the movement. Makes me proud to say I live here. ❤️

Kerri Thanks for this photo essay. We plan to come over to Hartford this week to see this very timely work of art. Thank you to the artists for bringing your art to Hartford. We need more of these outdoor works exp. by young Black and Brown artists who bring to us fresh air to breath in an otherwise, dusty, stuffy, artworld ruled by money, white in crowds and the Capitalist system. Freedom and Liberation should always be on our mind.
