As promised, textile collection has begun in Hartford — at least for those of us who get our trash and recycling picked up by the City.
It was in the week before Election Day when I received my two starter bags. They arrived in the mailbox, without fanfare, but with instructions I found straightforward.
This card, Spanish side up, was at the top of the packet¹.
The other side of the card looks like this:
If I had any question what this was about, an email, phone number, and website was provided.
For those who lose postcards, the instructions have also been printed on the bags themselves, with another set of contacts included:
Neighbors in Frog Hollow have been filling their bags and placing them at the curb. The more materials we can divert from the incinerator, the better for us all.
¹ (did photo editing to remove my address from the card.

This is a great idea! Do you know how the city or whomever were able to start this in Hartford? Curious-where do these go?

I believe this started with City Council connecting with the company that runs it. As far as I know, they don’t charge anything to the municipality, but there obviously has to be a kind of agreement about them operating.
Some of the materials go to Goodwill. The stuff that isn’t considered good enough to sell here is sold in foreign markets. What’s too raggedy is broken down and reused for stuff like automotive interiors, etc.
