Park Street could really use a business improvement district (BID) and some ambassadors like they’ve got in downtown.
The can, litter, and bus stop on the north side of the street is adjacent to Pope Commons, 1200 Park Street. The south side bus stop is next to Pope Park.
These conditions have existed for years.
In this case, the graffiti is more than an eyesore. If you are standing inside the shelter, you can’t see through the painted over windows. This means you might miss your bus.
Last November, someone was found murdered in one of those bus shelters.
I don’t like posting pics that are less than flattering of my neighborhood. It’s not a bad place, and it’s not hard to find many positive qualities. But this little area needs some love.

I love the gardens full of weeds in the center of that area. Great ideas all over the city that after implication just turn into an eyesore. Glad I left.

With Parkville Market being developed, as well as that big shopping center between Laurel & Pope Park Highway – is there an opportunity to discuss a BID for this stretch of Park St? There will be dozens of new businesses inside the market. Also, Bartholemew Ave is being redone, in large part to support the businesses there. Are those folks – brewers, axe throwers, etc, involved in the discussion of what a BID would look like?
