The corner of Mather and Bedford Streets is home to the former Chevry Lomday Mishnayes synagogue, built in the 1920s, with the Orthodox congregation founded by Russian and other Eastern European immigrants. It is yellow and red brick, built in the Neo-Classical Revival style.
The congregation moved from 148-150 Bedford Street, in the 1960s, to 191 Westbourne Parkway.
