Eduardo Genao, who until yesterday was employed with the Hartford Public Schools as Executive Director for Compliance, is being investigated by the Hartford Police Department.
This investigation includes an “alleged victim” who is not a student or staff member from Hartford Public Schools, says the spokesperson for the public school district.
In 2006, Genao, in a previous role as principal at Sports and Medical Sciences Academy, had been accused of changing several students’ racial designations, without parental permission, to essential skew the school’s data. If the school appeared to be more racially integrated than it was — in this case, to have more white students attending — then more funding apparently would have become available. Following that incident, Genao continued to rise through the Hartford Public Schools’ administration.
