They are there because the MDC sewer construction was causing damage to the buildings. Things like steel plates being dropped onto the pavement from 6′ high, the excavator bucket being used as a pile-driver, etc etc etc prompted the neighborhood to request city intervention and a meeting w the MDC for some common sense alternatives before they caused permanent damage to buildings built in the 1800’s. One of the agreements was to place the seismology testing equipment in order to alert supervisors to excessive vibration. It’s better.
Wow…I thought these were just micro-solar panels. Thanks for this information — I knew that the residents in nearby buildings were driven crazy by the non-stop construction (who routinely digs up the same spot and re-paves?!) but did not realize all of this back story.
The MDC also agreed to monitor the construction company to prevent them from running their heavy equipment all day whether or not it was in use, or even had a driver in the equipment, in violation of city clean air ordinances. They were running unmanned for 4-6 hours at a time.
My favorite: Paramount Construction tapped into the outside faucet to our house, so we pay the MDC for water their contractor is using. I call that the ultimate irony… And yes, I did email MDC CEO Scott Jellison.

Did you notice those solar thingies that have recently appeared in the front yards of those buildings? No clue how they work or what they do.

I saw them. I also have no clue.

Great information. I noticed on Monday that all but one of them have been removed.

For some, endless MDC construction in front of your historic dwelling can drive you right out of town!
