With a filthy mayoral race underway, it’s easy to forget that there are several candidates for Treasurer: Adam Cloud, the endorsed Democrat; David Morin, a Democrat on Segarra’s slate; and Marc Nelson, also a Democrat.
Multiple sources have informed us that should Morin get elected, he would resign from the position. In his place, according to these sources, Council would appoint Ramon Arroyo. Sources, some of whom are on the Democratic Town Committee, have said that this discussion has taken place at meetings involving members of Segarra’s slate.
Whether or not this rumor has any truth, we may have to wait and see. According to Mayor Segarra’s campaign, “There is no truth to this statement.”
Who is Arroyo? He’s the husband of State Rep. Minnie Gonzalez, 3rd district. The same third district that its representative stated is solidly supporting Segarra.

Mr Arroyo while aCity employee had a few sexual harassment complaint s filed against him. In addition , Mr Arroyo was arrested for solicitations prostitutes while using a city owned vehicle…he pled out under the AR statute,I seem to remember. In further addition,he and his wife Minnie Gonzalez have been found in violation of State elections laws.
The political process has been kind to both of them as they have supported Linda McMahon over Chris Murphy and Tom Foley over Dan Malloy…and have profited handsomely …they own 4 or 5 homes while neither has been gainfully employed in years.

Do you know if Arroyo is even qualified in any way to be Treasurer? You know things that we seek in all job applicants, credentials, recommendations by other in the same line of work, job history, degrees, experience in the field. All things that matter rather than a political connection. We are talking about millions of dollars here. Can the man be trusted?
I know living in the 3rd district what an embarrassment that Minnie is. Note to Minnie, Don’t count all of your chickens before they hatch. Not all of us in this district are lock step behind Segarra.

Richard…Mr Arroyo has no education involving finance, accounting or law which would be important in doing the job as Treasurer nor has he any expierance in treasury matters, bond work or finance that I can discern…I think he has a masters in social work…god help us if he became treasurer.

Thank you Bruce. I sort of thought that was the case. Yes May god and anything else that we can conjure up help up. I have always wondered where these folks get off thinking they can do jobs that they are not at all qualified to do.

Hartford’s government seems to be basically a jobs program with an institutionalized policy of nepotism. Always an inspiring place.
