Volunteers picked up trash, swept debris, and removed paint from the Matthew Furlong memorial in New Ross, County Wexford Park, also known as Heaven Skate Park. They said the amount of garbage was significantly less than in the past; the amount gathered after several months was less than one might have previously picked up during a single week. The trash cans were not overflowing– a notable change.
There was still a desire to have something added to prevent vehicles from driving inside the park. While present, we witnessed a man drive his Porsche through the space, despite being told to turn around upon entering. This seems simple enough to fix by installing a locked chain at the entrance, allowing only DPW and paramedics entrance to the park.
