This is going to sound silly.. but I just can’t get it out of my head. Is this the entrance at Burger King downtown. I know I have walked on it.. seen it.. That is the best I can do.
If that face that looks like a tragedy mask were a clue, I’d say City Arts on Pearl. Building’s old enough to feature that kind of artwork. But just a guess.
The lobby of the building where Dunkin Donuts, and Subway is on Main Street. I am not sure of the correct street number but I think I saw it uncovered years ago where ever it is. Anyway no matter where it is and with all of the artistic talent in Hartford I hope that someone will restore this work of art.
Were you really vacationing in Pompeii and got your photo’s mixed up? Where is Brendan when he is needed? I am intrigued but give up as I really can’t feel the art under my feet. Now that’s a good one to do something with or should it be I really don’t have x-ray vision in my feet.
One last guess. The colors in the tile seem to be the same as the colors of tiles in the portico of the old Hartford Times Building on Prospect Street. I don’t know who would put a rug over it unless it is by some rug artists wanting to keep the face warm.

Nope. A lot of people do walk on it but, it’s normally hidden from view.

City hall

No, but you’re getting warmer

It’s not. Good detective work though

It’s not there, but I feel like I’ve seen something similar in that building too.
Erik
CLUE: there’s a carpet over it and it makes its presence known by making the floor uneven.

I think Brendan’s in West Simsbury. I know that sounds like a punchline, but I’m serious.
Hmm…where might one find art under his feet?
Richard
He usually knows where things are located that is why I am asking. Do you have a full photo of this art? I would love to see it.
Lizzee
I’m guessing that it’s at the Atheneum…perhaps the north entrance across from Travelers?
Kerri Provost
It is in the Atheneum — CONGRATS!
It’s sort of on that side, but more specifically, it’s in the theatre area.
Richard

More specifically, it’s in the Loctite Lobby (the lobby before entering the Aetna Theater) at the Wadsworth Atheneum.

Thanks for submitting the photo!
