The City of Hartford has declared a parking ban effective at 12:01 Saturday morning (just past midnight tonight) lasting through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday.
The purpose of a parking ban is to allow plow trucks to remove snow from the roadways. Vehicles should be parked in public school lots or at these other locations for the duration of the ban: Morgan Street Garage, 2 Holcomb Street Lot, Keney Park Entrance Lot at Ridgefield Street, KDA Center Lot on Naugatuck Street, Pope Park Center Lot via Park Terrace, Metzner Center Lot on Franklin Avenue, Colt Park Lot via Wawarme Avenue, and Elizabeth Park lots.
Cars left on the street during the ban are subject to ticketing and towing. The City of Hartford says “Residents whose vehicles are towed during the parking ban should contact the Hartford Police Department at (860) 757-4000. The cost for retrieving a towed vehicle is $93.59. An additional $99.00 ticket will be issued which owners are responsible for paying before the answer date.”
Additionally, anyone who needs emergency shelter while temperatures are below 25 degrees can use the following shelters:
• Immaculate Conception Shelter: 560 Park St, (860) 724-4823
• McKinney Shelter: 34 Huyshope Ave, (860) 722-6922
• South Park Inn: 75 Main St, (860) 724-0071
UPDATE: Parking ban lifted as of 7 p.m. on January 24.

Can cars in designated lots be left over night tonight 1/24, or do they have to be removed and reparked on the street after midnight?

City wants cars removed a.s.a.p. so school lots can be cleared of snow before Monday. Best bet might be to call HPD (860) 757-4000 to see what your window is on that.
