Get it Toasted on Asylum Street: The popular food truck will soon have a stationary spot.

50 Elm Cafe & Spirits: Occupies a long vacant spot on Elm Street. Menu offerings include mofongo, black bean soup, empanadas, oxtail stew, callaloo, and flan.

Bear’s Smokehouse Barbecue on Arch Street: Occupies space previously used by the Hartford Bicycle Studio. Menu offerings include poutine, brisket, mashed sweet potatoes, apple crisp, and southern peach cobbler. The grand opening is today.

Nixs on Front Street: Menu offerings include short rib tacos, buttermilk onion rings, calamari, crabcakes, coconut jasmine rice, and zeppoles.

The menu offerings at each establishment are eclectic, to say the least. Barbecue AND poutine? Mofongo AND callaloo? Very interesting.
