The questions were not widely asked when Hartford Public Schools originally agreed to let Jumoke/FUSE manage the Milner School, but a closer look at the administration two years into the three-year deal has led to a contract termination.
The Milner School, part of the Commissioner’s Network, will return to full control by the Hartford Public Schools effective July 1st.

It is easy to place blame on FUSE but the fact is that the Hartford Public Schools has continually failed Milner School and is the district that chose to go this route, with a no-bid contract (!), in the first place. It is hard to be optimistic that suddenly now that FUSE is to be out of the picture the dramatic improvement that is desperately needed will come to pass. At what point will Hartford Public Schools and those that manage it be held accountable for this mess?

It’s interesting that during the most recent Turnaround at Milner, none of these questions were raised by the Courant. It is as if the newspaper forgot how to function like a watchdog. One has to wonder why suddenly there is interest by them in the test scores, in the false credentials, and in the criminal history of Sharpe when none of those things were actually new in the last few weeks.
So yes, agreement — there are *multiple* parties here who had jobs to do and failed to do them, from the local mainstream media to the HPS admins to FUSE to Mr. Sharpe.
