It was worth getting drenched to see State Representative Edwin Vargas (pictured above and below) make the ride down Park Street this morning in the Three Kings Day parade. Someone with less determination would have disembarked one block into that adventure.
There were fewer than normal residents joining in the parade, but people watched the procession from apartments.
Others waited inside the Pope Park Rec Center, near the parade’s end, to receive toys. In the park’s lot, an area was set up for camel rides. Typically there are long lines for this, but the rain sent most people inside the Rec Center instead.
Hartford Public Schools do not hold school on the holiday.
