I realize that technically they are art of First Night, not Winterfest, but can I say the New Year’s Eve fireworks? One year, the cloud cover was so low the rockets shot into the clouds and disappeared, with only a faint glow to indicate where they were exploding. The next, when people gathered at midnight in a snow-covered park to watch, the skies were clear and it was great. That seemed very Hartford — mixed success, but still trying. A pulse. Hartford has it.
