People — and a few dogs — gathered at the Riverfront on Saturday morning to raise awareness about and money toward ending homelessness.
The Give Me Shelter Walk is a fundraiser for Hartford’s Immaculate Conception Shelter & Housing Corporation. Before starting the 5k along the Connecticut River, participants listened to a few words to inspire them: “Helping others keeps our own struggles in perspective.”
“If you need help, take it. If you can offer help, give it,” walkers were told moments before heading north toward Riverside Park.
