Saturday’s Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival used the best advertisement possible: smoke from tangy and spicy grilled foods.
Not everyone came for just the food. Two stages were set up at the Riverfront yesterday, showcasing acts like Sista Jamaica, the Hartford Steel Symphony, Karen Smith, and Yellowman.
For those needing other diversions, kids’ activities were set up on the lower level. The upper level offered merchandise to buy. A few booths tried to tempt visitors into booking vacations to St. Lucia and Jamaica. If you are bummed about missing the festival, plan to attend the West Indian Independence Celebration and Parade on August 10th.
