The Park Branch of the Hartford Public Library will be closed on Monday and Tuesday — July 8th and 9th — so that interior renovations can take place.
For those impacted by the two-day closure, other nearby branches include the Dwight Branch at the corner of New Park Avenue and Park Street, and Camp Field at 30 Campfield Avenue.
The Park Street branch is a rented facility. There has been talk about trying to move it to a different, larger location, such as the former Immaculate Conception church or the former Lyric Theater, both on Park Street. In conversation, library leadership has shown a strong preference for the church space. This kind of move, however, can not just speed ahead. The library has a list of which branches get renovations/construction when.
