The Connecticut Regional Market in the South Meadows neighborhood is active every morning. It closes down at 9, and when the flower and plant vendors begin appearing in larger numbers, parking actually does become a challenge here to anyone arriving after sunrise.
Some might not consider this mostly industrial area to be a neighborhood, but census data does indicate that people — albeit a small number — live here. After having a few of these conversations about where people possibly live, it needs to be put bluntly: Hartford, like many other places, has a population who is homeless. This does not tell the entire story of who lives in the South Meadows, but it is part of it.
This is sort of like a meadow.
In Your Neighborhood is a weekly photo series showcasing Hartford’s neighborhoods. This week concludes the first round of the series. There will be no feature next week. The second round will begin on April 27, 2013.
