The (former) Emanuel Synagogue, now a church — can be found on the corner of Woodland and Greenfield Street in the Upper Albany neighborhood, an area that is typically referred to as “the North End,” an amorphous region that is regarded as dangerous, if at all. Scott’s Jamaican Bakery, a popular spot with several Hartford locations, has been serving the city since 1978. The Albany Branch of the Hartford Public Library was renovated in 2011.
