There is a range of opinion on the effectiveness of the flu vaccine, but those who wish to take this extra step can attend a free flu clinic on Tuesday, January 22nd from 10a.m. until 2p.m.
Sponsored by the City of Hartford’s Department of Health and Human Services, the clinic will be held on the first floor of the Burgdorf Health Care Center, 131 Coventry Street.
For more information, call 860-757-4830.
If you’re trying to determine how much to panic over the flu, the Connecticut Department of Public Health reports a total of 67 flu cases in Hartford from August 26, 2012 through January 5, 2013. Of all towns and cities in the state, Hartford has had the highest number of reported cases. Fairfield and New Haven had the next highest. Some towns have had no reported cases at all.

Anecdote in favor of vaccine: Ellen says Hartford Hospital is struggling to accommodate people with flu. Either get the shot or live in a bubble until spring. Or maybe drink lots of wheatgrass and spiralina/bluegreen algae-infused martinis.
