With its open house this weekend, the Hartford Bicycle Studio has taken a step closer to being a bike shop. Now located at 89 Arch Street, Patrick Connolly has spent the past few months fixing up the space next to the Arch Street Tavern, which has housed nightclubs and an Indian restaurant in recent years. There is still some work to do, but it is far enough along to have invited the public in to view bicycles and art.
Currently more art studio than bike shop, the plan is to begin selling parts. At the open house on Friday, Connolly set out a basket into which visitors could leave suggestions for items they would like the Hartford Bicycle Studio to carry.
Now on display: several artsy bikes, included one covered in yarn, and bicycle-themed artwork, along with other paintings by various artists.
