On Saturday, October 27th, you have a few reasons to get up and out of the house before you’re potentially stuck there for years days due to the impending apocalypse storm.
Cinestudio, located on the Trinity College campus, will be hosting pixELATION!, a benefit to celebrate the new digital cinema. The event begins with a reception at 6pm (snacks, desserts, and beverages). There will be a screening of Hugo at 7pm. This will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Colin McEnroe. General admission: $30. Students w/ ID, Seniors, and Friends of Cinestudio: $25. This is being billed as a red carpet event.
You’ll just be wearing flannel and corduroy after the storm hits, so you might as well take the fancy schmancy clothes out for a final stroll.
For something more low-key, the Emanuel Lutheran Church (311 Capitol Avenue) will be holding its annual craft fair. There will be a bake shop, coffee shop, “attic treasure area,” and various crafts. Great opportunity to stock up on all the baked goods, which don’t go bad as soon as the power fails. The fair goes from 9am-2pm.

We just got back from the Church Fair. We bought a delicious Gramma Andersen’s coffe cake, made two cans full at the cookie walk, a Swedish Almond Cake, some lovely purple knitted mittens (only $5), a gorgeous tatted doily, and decorations for everyone’s Christmas presents. We had a tasty coffe bun at the coffee shop and visited with a lot of grandmothers.Of course everyone remembered us, old queers that we are and God morgans were exchanged all around.

Thanks for the tip! I scored a plate of the sweetest fudge I have ever had in my life.
