When the iQuilt project announced that diverting Gully Brook to form a false river above a buried one was in the plans, it was pointed out that this would disrupt the popular playground, which already has a water play area. Sure, the water playground had been broken for longer than it was functional, but it was there, if only someone would get it running again.
It’s running.
The playground is next to the carousel. Check it out before someone decides that the existing equipment needs to be removed to make way for the future.

Awesome!! Do you know where to find hours of operation or if they’ll be running on weekdays?

I don’t think the City sets hours for any of its water playgrounds. There is nothing on its website that indicates hours. Nothing on any of Bushnell Park’s foundation/friends websites either.

I was curious about hours of operation because wondering if the water would bein this weekend. Seems like a cool end of summer adventure. So then I started looking around. The Hartford recreation department website has a dearth of relevant information. They must set hours that they turn on and off the water (usually a timer) or they lock gates. But even the pool hours, open/close date and costs weren’t there. Unfortunate

The redesign of the City site has made certain areas a thousand times better. The rec section looks neater, but is less relevant for the general public.

I am so happy to know there is a tuly water at the playground now. I will definitely be bringing the kids.

*actually water, not “a tuly” water. Darn iPhone.

Tuly water is the best kind, LOL.

I noticed with a big smile last week that the water was flowing. I walked by in the early afternoon on two different days and saw at least a dozen kids playing in the water. At one time there was a child sitting on each frog having a grand time as the water sprayed out of the frogs’ mouths. It’s about time. Good location for the carousel; good location for the playground. Leave them where they are iQuilters!
