Tight on time or money, not everyone can afford weekends on the Cape. Over the next week, we will bring you five mini-trip ideas that have nothing to do with whales, steam trains, or the Thimble Islands. This is not intended to be extensive. Your suggestions for places to visit are welcome.

When folks come to visit, we always take them to:
– Mark Twain House (at least a drive-by, if no time for the wonderful house itself)
– Heublein Tower and Metacomet Trail
– White Flower Farm, Litchfield
– Dinosaur State Park
– Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferry (is it still running this summer?)

One of these items is on my list for the week 🙂

A ton of great things over in upstate New York. Cooperstown. The FDR estate at Hyde Park. Saratoga battlefield. Anything to do with the Hudson River.

Have you ever been to the Thimble Islands? They’re pretty awesome.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with the Thimble Islands, but there’s a whole hell of a lot more in Connecticut than them, which you wouldn’t know from that ridiculous Still Revolutionary ad.
