Union Station usually just has trains and buses, but now there is a catamaran in the Great Hall. The “Cat-Fish” was designed by David Murphy and built by eighteen student woodworkers for the 2012 Oil Drum Art “Bang the Drum!” Energy and Environmental Exhibition. The 15-foot prototype will see some water action in May.
A bicycle, prayer wheel, sink, and eagle are among other pieces of art — forty in all — created from recycled 55-gallon steel drums.Trash drum art by Hartford students is also on display in Union Station.
This exhibit will remain in the Great Hall through May 26, 2012.

Is the fox real? Inquiring minds and all…

So, some of the artists’ statements were pushed too far away from where people could read them, as the exhibit was roped off in a strange way.
I can’t say for 100% certainty that the fox is real, but I am willing to be that the fox is real. And dead. And stuck inside an oil drum. Imagine how surprising it would be to have a live fox there.
