Open only since late February, Braza on the Plaza (10 Constitution Plaza) has “for lease” signs posted in its windows.
The restaurant had limited hours and received consistently low reviews on Yelp.
Several attempts to make contact today were for naught; nobody answered the phone during the restaurant’s posted business hours.

Wow, that even beats Market 21’s record.

I’ll admit – that’s a really tough location. I was surprised how long Spris lasted. Not a lot of people traffic there and parking is a pain. It’s unfortunate but unsurprising.

I tried calling there multiple times to make reservations and figure out there hours — NEVER an answer. So I never even got to try it out. Tough location, but when you’re not even answering phones to tell people if you’re open, your location doesn’t matter.

Never good news to have any business in Hartford fail, but if their food was anything like the other Braza, on Farmington Ave, they may have just done THEMSELVES in.
When it first opened the Braza on Farmington had a huge variety of grilled stuff and buffet selections. A few years later the buffet was nowhere near as extravagant, and the meats were fewer and of much lower quality. Oh well. They have a good bar. Good, strong, caipirinhas.

As a vegetarian who has no business in any place that is centered around meat, I have no experience or opinion on it either way. If a restaurant is spectacular, I think it can overcome an unfortunate location. Hope something fills the space soon.

If any Hartford restaurant could be described as “centered around meat” Braza would be at the top of the list!

Like Kerri, I don’t eat meat off a stick, and I’m not usually one to beat a dead restaurant, but I don’t think I’ve heard friends complain more about any restaurant anywhere (in this case, the Farm Ave one that must have sold its soul to the meat devil to still be open.)
So really, a tough location with uninspired food? You do the math.

Just an update for anyone who didn’t hear, apparently 3 locations of Braza have closed this week for good, including this location and the one int he West End. No idea why they would have even opened this place up if that was a possibility, but such is the mystery of restauranteurs I suppose. Guess we’ll have to focus on places like Rio and the new Al’s market on Trumbull and hope there are more openings than closings this spring!

If anyone has been to Rio (another meat-centric place I’ll probably never venture into) they are welcome to comment on their experiences here.

I heard that the Rio people are the same people who own the Brazilian churrascarria place on Park Street Park & Dorothy) If so, that place is the bomb diggity and I expect Rio to be just as good.
Kerri Provost
Yep. I hear they do authentic churrascaria.

Rio is great! At lunch time they have a wonderful buffet with a slew of veggie options. The meat is well prepared and the service is great.
I had lunch at Braza on the Plaza a month after it opened, the staff wasn’t trained, the buffet was wretched and it was an altogether meh experience. For top dollar.
