There is such a thing as a free lunch.
The catch?
It’s a school lunch.
Well, more like dinner. On April 19th, parents of Hartford schoolchildren will have the opportunity to sample dozens of the foods and drinks served in their sons’ and daughters’ cafeterias.
Food will be served in the cafeteria at Hartford Public High School (55 Forest Street) from 4-7pm, free of charge.

So, do you think they’ll do what colleges do on Parents’ Weekend and make only the really good special stuff that they don’t really ever serve to kids? Otherwise…I love free food, but my memories of school cafeteria food aren’t the fondest. It’s tough when sloppy joe is your favorite food memory…
All joking aside – I like the idea as long as it’s actually representative of the food served so that parents know what their kids are getting. I also like the idea of reaching out to the community this way.

I don’t think I ate school lunch past the age of 8, so my memories are probably as foggy as yours.
Maybe I’ll go and report back.
