HartBeat Ensemble — not to be confused with HartBeat Park — has been bringing live entertainment to the city for ten years. They have sought out ways to make art accessible to all residents, regardless of economic or employment status.
HartBeat Park, on the other hand, appears to be off limits to all residents except for those who happen to work at The Hartford. They also have strict notions about what are considered acceptable activities in the fitness park. This is not hidden from view; rather, it is across the street from apartment buildings.

The font they used for “Hartbeat” gives the sign an early 1980’s look.
Some night, I want to go there and tow a sled and a smoking skateboarder around with my bike. The smoking ban actually makes sense, but this sign gives me especially contrarian leanings.

If I can’t smoke while jogging, I don’t even see the point of it.

It’s the name of their fitness center/employee health program. They’ve been using it since at least the late 90s.

Yep. Not saying anyone has any particular rights to the name (though a newspaper that began calling themselves HartBeat of the Street did drop the “Hart” later – http://beatofthestreet.org/ )…just how starkly different two organizations using the same name can be.

Kerri do you go by here often? Just curious as to how much use it gets – though I suppose that doesn’t matter much.
Kerri Provost
Not very often…and never during business hours. I’m also curious about the use it gets. The grounds look pristine.
