Bellydancing and the hora.
That’s just a little of what you missed if you let the “perpetual ocean mist” keep you in your house last night. The Underscore Orkestra — a Balkan, Klezmer, Gypsy Jazz and Swing band from Portland, OR — has played at La Paloma Sabanera before Monday night, and with any luck, they will stop by again.

This time around, the band added bellydancing, but was down a a Sousaphone. Some of the audience joined in the dancing; several of the spontaneous dancers came from the Always on Sunday international folk dance group that meets in Wethersfield.

For a rainy Monday night, you might expect a lot of empty seats, but it was actually a standing room only crowd. The band itself was so large that the trumpet player had to stand in front of the door.
