Looking out the front door, one can see a Kentucky Coffee Tree. The bean of the aforementioned tree is allegedly neutralized when roasted, but poisonous otherwise. Also in view isĀ a community garden, soccer field, and the UConn Law School. The neighborhood is quiet, save for one house on the block which features someone who likes to talk loudly on his cellphone while seated on his front porch. If that’s as bad as it gets, then it’s not bad at all.
The real appeal of this neighborhood is not the quiet or the abundance of lawyers and wannabe lawyers — it’s the proximity to Elizabeth Park. Yes, even in December. During any season, the park offers views of the city skyline. In winter, the hill makes for good sledding. Judging from the tracks left behind, snowshoeing happens here. The blooms have long since died, but winter can make for a more interesting visit to the park if you’re seeking solitude.
