The message is clear: You can’t park here, so get walking!
That’s not a bad message to send. When one abandons her car, she notices so much more about the world around her:
- the carousel in Bushnell Park posts notices on its windows about special events.
- nobody cleans up after horses.
- not even fake horses.
- there are lots of dogs downtown.
- it’s a miracle more people are not hit by broken tree branches, as they are aplenty in the parks.
- it’s quicker to walk across downtown than to drive from spot-to-spot.
- people can not parallel park. About half the cars parked on the street are several inches-to-several feet from the curb.
- crosswalk signals are coordinated with celestial events, which is to say, unless one is willing to jaywalk, she has to wait twenty seven years for a pedestrian signal.
- it’s actually only a ten minute walk to the riverfront from this sign if one is particularly slow moving.
