I read that he’s now resigned. Any idea what happens to the seat he just won in the election? Does that now need to be revoted? Costing us more tax payer money…

I don’t know. There are policies for when a governor or a sheriff resigns: http://www.ct.gov/sots/cwp/view.asp?a=3188&q=392288 There is a letter from SOTS regarding a previous resignation a few years ago: http://www.ct.gov/sots/lib/sots/releases/2007/11-13-07delucaresigns.pdf Unless something has changed or the rules are different for House and Senate, it looks like a special election. I’m only speculating. If someone has a better idea (i.e. more informative literature) I would love to hear from him/her.

if he resigns…he hasnt yet…the statutes say that the delegates of the prior convention must meet and endorse a new candidate, who becomes the standard bearer for the November election…
If he resigns after winning the November election then there is a mandatory statutory special election.
