I found The Cupcake Brake truck parked on Broad Street this afternoon. This is its third day operating and is based in the Hartford area. We no longer have to wait on the New Haven Cupcake Truck!
When I arrived, they had sold out of everything but carrot cake, so my choice was made for me. They said that there were long lines earlier, which I don’t doubt.
Unfortunately, the cupcake went from truck to gullet, so I have no photo to post of it, but perhaps in the future.
You can find out where they are currently parked by visiting their website.

Interesting. I just had a conversation with a friend of mine in NYC this weekend about how food carts tweet and blog and have these cult followings. I think it’s an interesting business model that shows that the neighborhood “business” is expanding in a similar way to global business.

I didn’t realize that food trucks beyond the cupcake variety did this, and I just assumed they did knowing how sugar junkies need to know where to show up for their fix.
For the record, this was the first time in well over a decade that I purchased anything from a truck. I am very skeptical of such practices, but was dazzled by the cupcake and had eaten most of it before I realized what I had done. Now that I’ve lived through it, maybe I’ll branch out and try actual food (not dessert) trucks around town.
