The kvetching will return briefly. For now, here’s a list of awesome things, inspired by 1000 Awesome Things:
- knowing that even when the country karaoke is closed due to the holidays, there is still something to do because I have friends to hang out with.
- spending hours in coffee shops because I am on vacation and I can spend my time however I like.
- the combination of instant Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube make it so that I never miss cable television. I can chase Margaret Cho’s Assassin with a trailer for Sex and the City if I wanna!
- riding a cargo bike. I got to do this for the first time last weekend and I loved it. I thought the bike would be too heavy for me. Cars kept their distance.
- having heat included with rent
- seeing people pick up after their dogs (because it means I won’t be hosing my shoes off later)
- “buy ten get one free” coffee cards
- farmers’ markets that operate year round
- tiramisu at Modern Pastry and Mozzicato’s
- the old floor plans for G. Fox that are on display in 960 Main
- the path along the Connecticut River
- riding my bicycle to the radio station in the early morning hours when few people are up and about
- watching someone walk three small dogs at once
- rooftop gardens
- brownstones
- Where We Live
- being in walking distance of more than a gas station/convenience store and car wash
- but knowing that I can walk out my door and have a Hostess chocolate cupcake in my mouth in less than three minutes if I need that to happen.
- watching maniacs ride their bikes downhill after a snowstorm
