Just as I was lamenting my inability to go see the Hartford Symphony Orchestra this year, I received notice from a friend that part of the HSO would be performing for free at Trinity College last night.
The performance was in the Trinity College Chapel, which I had never before had reason to enter. It began with the Trinity College Choir performing Dietrich Buxtehude‘s Cantate Domino Caniticum Novum. The motet was followed by the organist’s performance of Bach‘s Prelude and Fugue in G. Finally, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra performed with the Trinity College Choir on Vivaldi‘s Gloria. If there were any flaws in the performance, I did not hear them.
Since I am not a Trinity faculty, student, or graduate, I have had few reasons other than Cinestudio to go onto the campus. As a member of the community, I appreciate being able to attend and enjoy a concert that was open to the public.
