If you missed it, the sketchy area of bridges on Capitol Avenue just before Forest Street has been dubbed the Corridor of Hope. For more background, dig through the archive posts.
I’ve been seeing people sent to this area to pick up litter as part of their community service requirements. They’ve been maintaining the daffodil bed and removing light litter, like wrappers.
The illegal dumping site (tires, toilet, furniture, etc.) has been sealed off with a chain link fence, but the garbage has not been removed from behind it.
More work has been done on the mural that is under one side of the train bridge. I can’t tell if it’s finished or not.
After the boards that were being used as makeshift pedestrian bridges were removed, a resident found a replacement board. It doesn’t look like much from the photo, but it saves pedestrians from having to walk through the sludge that is almost always pooled on the sidewalk.
There is only one working street light in this area. At night, the section between Forest and Laurel is so dark that one cannot see what is directly in front of her. There are other light posts already there, just not operational lights.

this area of hartford is interesting in an architectural way, but it is a bit of a dump. in another city, it would be more popular.
