If you have gripes about any of the following, then the place to be on July 15th is the Hartford Public Library: bed bugs, public safety, crime, violence, noise, street racing, graffiti, neighborhood cleanliness, and blighted buildings.
From 6-8pm the “Summer in the City: Quality of Life in Hartford” panel will be moderated by Councilperson Jim Boucher. Light refreshments will be available beginning at 5:30. A representative of the Hartford Police Department will be on hand.
At the same time, there will be a forum on bed bugs. The Mayor’s office sent out a press release for this:
The City of Hartford Health and Human Services Department in collaboration with the Hartford Public Library will be offering a community forum to inform Hartford residents about solutions to an issue affecting urban centers such as Hartford in recent years- bed bugs. This community forum will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Downtown branch of the Hartford Public Library located at 500 Main Street.
This event will include presentations by a panel of experts and a question and answer session to allow the public to obtain more information on this topic. The panel will include:
Dr. Gale Ridge: CT Agricultural Experiment Station
Attorney Robyn Johnson: Housing Prosecutor/CT Chief State’s Attorney
Cristina Berger: Department of Environmental Protection Pesticides Program
Carol Steinke: Public Health Nursing Supervisor/Hartford HHS
Jose Morales: Public Health Sanitarian/Hartford HHS
Darlene Robertson: Division of License and Inspections/City of Hartford
If you have something to say about bed bugs in particular and quality of life in general, then I guess you are supposed to go panel-hopping.

So I hear. Never actually seen one, and I think I could go through life just fine without meeting one.
I have noticed a whole lot of mattresses being curbed lately. Wonder if there’s any connection.
