kitty.jpgIf I had kids, I would drop them off at the library for the month of December. True, they’d have to find a food source, but they would be plenty occupied. Here’s a listing of activities that are wholesome and won’t involve you winding up with hot glue all over your dining room table. All events are at the downtown library unless noted otherwise.

December 3rd, 4th, and 5th: Children ages eight and up are invited to make cards to send to American troops serving overseas, as well as to those who are currently being cared for in military hospitals. This goes from 3:30-5pm.

December 11th: Kids ages five and up can make gingerbread houses. This begins at 3:30om and runs for one hour.

December 17th: Bring the older children (10yr.+) to make jingle bell wreaths. This event begins at 5:30 and lasts for an hour.

December 18th: Children 5 and up will have the Polar Express read to them, and then they can watch the film interpretation of the book. Popcorn will be provided. That’s right– food in the library!

December 22nd: To learn about Chanukah and made related crafts, you’d have to travel to the Albany branch. This 45-minute event begins at 3pm and is for children ages 5 and up.

December 27th: This event is for “all children and adult friends” who can enjoy longer events, as this goes from 1-4:30pm: “All children and adult friends. Celebrate the spirit of Kwanzaa in art, music, and food. Learn traditional African head-wrapping techniques passed down from our ancestors.”
