Monday-Monday is a weekly gathering/party hosted by the Pearl Street League at TheaterWorks (233 Pearl Street), mainly for downtown residents, though they haven’t thrown me out yet. It’s free, as is the wine and cheese provided by Bin 228. Each week they focus attention on a few individuals who might be doing something in Hartford. Last night was a bloggers night.
As pictured, Helder Mira, Sam McKinniss, Kerri Provost (me), and Amy Bergquist were asked a few questions. It was surprisingly fun, but anything is when you prepare yourself mentally to be ripped up and that does not happen. We talked about kickbacks (Sam will cave for Dior. I’ll gladly review Tiffany’s products, f.y.i.), the reason for us blogging, and corporate media blogs. My response to the last one apparently offended someone in the audience who did not enjoy my use of the term “verbal masturbation.” I picked that term because I find that the practice of getting paid to prattle on is offensive, especially when it’s cloaked as news. Anyway, the audience for this was totally inquisitive and into the discussion.
Last night, we also got to hear about the Hooker Day Parade, Hartbeat Ensemble’s new play (more on that later), a French immersion program, and from the senior vice president of the civic center. Monday-Monday runs from 5:30-7:30pm every Monday (except holidays) in the City Arts on Pearl building.
